Succession planning is simply the act of formalizing your various considerations for retirement. Sometimes this is referred to as an “exit strategy” but often is much more. It can include plans for who will own and operate the business, how you will be compensated and tax & estate planning. If you don’t have one, don’t worry; most Owner-Operators don’t.
